A Better Porta Potty Experience: Timely Tips

Having porta potties is essential when you host any type of festival or outdoor party. The number one way to ensure you are happy with your porta potty rentals is to rent from a good company with an excellent track record. However, there are also some other tips you can follow to ensure a good experience, both for yourself and for party-goers.

Place the porta potties downwind.

If there is any sort of breeze on the day of the party, you don't want the porta potties to be upwind from the areas where people are getting together, eating, and socializing. Figure out what way the wind usually blows in your area, and place the porta potties downwind relative to the general party area. An easy way to tell which way the wind is blowing is to hold up a little, handheld flag. The wind is blowing in the direction that the flag rises.

Figure out how many porta potties you need.

You might attempt to save money by renting fewer porta potties. But this will backfire if attendees need to wait for a half hour to use the porta potties. They'll soon become displeased and leave your party. A good rule of thumb is to rent one porta potty per ten people at your party if there will be alcohol served. If you are not serving alcohol, you can probably get by with one porta potty per 20 attendees. If you're only renting one or two porta potties, make sure they are handicap accessible. If you are renting more than that, just one handicap-accessible porta potty will do. The rest can be regular models.

Look for ones with hand washing stations.

Make sure the porta potties you rent have hand washing facilities inside of them. If your rental company does not offer this option, you can instead rent a separate handwashing station. This will keep your entire party cleaner and help prevent the spread of germs.

Place them on stable ground.

Having a porta potty tip over is an absolute nightmare. If the porta potties are the least bit unsteady, it will cause people to not want to use them. Make sure the ground where you're going to place the porta potties is level. Check this out beforehand so you're not scrambling to find level ground when the rental company comes to drop the toilets off.

With the tips above, you'll have the best possible porta potty experience.
